Small Group Soccer Training
Small group soccer training sessions that deliver personal coaching, game-like intensity, and real results—without getting lost in the crowd.
Why Small Group Training Works
When players train together, they push each other further. Our small group training blends the personalized approach of one-on-one sessions with the competitive energy of team play. Each group is carefully formed by skill level—not just age—so players stay challenged, engaged, and motivated to improve.
With a maximum of 2 to 4 athletes per session, players receive focused instruction and constant repetitions in a dynamic environment that simulates real game pressure. It’s the best of both worlds: individual attention and the pace of live play.
Whether your player is refining fundamentals or preparing for club, school, or travel soccer, small group sessions give them the edge to grow faster and smarter.
What’s Covered in a Session
Each 75-minute session includes the core technical work found in our individual training—like first touch, footwork, (skill moves) and ball control—layered with small-sided game scenarios to build real-time decision-making and tactical awareness.
Group sessions focus on:
- Core technical skills: first touch, (tight) dribbling, passing, and control
- Small-sided games (1v1, 2v2, 3v3)
- Movement off the ball and spacing
- Speed, agility, and quick reaction (explosiveness rather than quick reaction) drills
- Game-like drills under pressure
- Peer interaction and healthy competition
- Plyometric work
Every drill has a purpose. Every session helps players take the next step in their game—together.
Ideal For
Small group training is a great fit for players who want to improve as individuals while building chemistry with others at a similar level. It’s perfect for teammates, friends, or players who thrive in an energetic, collaborative setting.
This format is best for:
- Players looking for faster decision-making and game pressure
- Groups prepping for club, school, or travel team play
- Athletes who want a blend of personal coaching and team-style intensity
- Friends (or teammates) who want to train together without sacrificing development

The APT Difference
Small group training shouldn’t mean diluted coaching—and at APT, it never does.
Each session is designed with intention. Coaches observe each player closely, give individualized corrections, and guide the group through drills that combine intensity with learning. Players leave more confident, more aware, and more equipped for game situations.
What makes APT different:
- Groups built by skill, not just age
- Coaches who stay engaged with each player—not just the group
- Consistent messaging and development goals across sessions
- A focus on technique, effort, and smart decision-making
- Homework sent home for the player to work on outside of training
This is small group training that feels personal—and gets results.

Posted on Misty LloydOctober 28, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Coach Devin is an outstanding private soccer trainer. My son has been private training with him consistently since August 2024. Coach Devin focuses on developing strong technical skills like ball control, positioning, and footwork while keeping the sessions engaging and positive. My son looks forward to every training session and has grown so much as a player since working with him. Communication is always clear, and scheduling sessions is super easy. We couldn’t ask for a better soccer trainer. We highly recommend!Posted on Ashley BermanSeptember 16, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They say when your kids are young, find a coach that they want and love to play for. If you want a coach that is truly dedicated to your athlete’s skill and improvement then Devin is the right choice. We have trained with Devin for a little over two years now, and can see improvement in every game we play. He coaches the kids with compassion and knows when to push them past their comfort zone to achieve every skill. He is certainly one of the best role, models and training coaches for my kid.Posted on Rebecca TorresAugust 10, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have been training with Devin for several months and the improvement with my son is insane. It is noticeable to everyone how much more technical his game has become. Devin is patient and firm with the kids and the results are amazing. We really appreciate the hard work he puts in with the kids and the results that come. I would give 6 stars if I could. Highly recommend!Posted on John YoakumAugust 9, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve been working with Devin for a year and the improvement in our son’s game has been incredible. Not only has his technical ability grown — better ball control, sharper passing, and stronger shooting — but his confidence on and off the field has skyrocketed. What we love most is that Devin combines deep soccer knowledge with a teaching style that’s patient, motivating, and tailored to our son’s unique strengths and challenges. Every session is structured, challenging, and fun, so our son is always excited to train. We can see the results in his performance during games, but more importantly, in his love for the sport. We’re so grateful for the positive impact Devin has had both as a coach and a mentor. Highly recommend to any parent looking to take their child’s game to the next level!Posted on kelvin wongAugust 6, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’re visiting my friend’s family in Ocala for the week, and he recommended I book a 1-on-1 session with Coach Devin for my 10-year-old son, Tai. Devin has been working with my friend’s son for a while now, so we gave it a shot and I’m really glad we did. Even in just one session, Devin was able to quickly spot Tai’s strengths and areas to improve. He gave us some super helpful feedback and tips Tai can take back home to work on. Tai’s been playing competitive soccer in California for a few years, but this was actually his first private session and it was totally worth it!Posted on Ali NawalAugust 6, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been training with Devin for about 10 months and he is very professional in his craft. Every session is tailored to perfection. I’ve improved so much from Devin technically, physically, and mentally. My overall game has improved levels and it’s really nice because I can tell a huge difference in my game. Devin is a top trainer and I would recommend him for every one of all ages.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
